The fatal incident at our site was the turning event for Jack that drove him to emotionally and emphatically state he would ensure safety changes that would absolutely eliminate any future visits to the home of an employee to announce to their family and loved-ones that there had been a life-altering or fatal injury at work. Jack led the charge for identifying top risks and establishing mitigation Policies.
I am a different person and I see safety from a different perspective because of the raw emotion and passion Jack showed for the safety and well-being of our employees!

Although I only got to know and work with/for Jack for a short period of time, I came to appreciate his leadership and passion for winning the hearts and minds of those who worked for our company. A fellow University of Maine grad, I appreciated his support and mentorship in helping me make the transition from Soldier to civilian working in the Operations Division.
Jack never hesitated to make time in his busy schedule to just have a sit down and discuss issues, provide feedback on a project you might be working on or offer you a cup of hot java from his office coffee shop. A true leader and gentleman, he will be missed.
I thought about you today during our International Women's Day event. The speaker talked about some CEOs that she knew who had servant hearts and were always taking a back seat to others, allowing them to have the limelight. I will never forget the way that you interacted with others at the Compass Minerals corporate office in Overland Park. You would always come around with coffee, offering to fill people's cups. Then you would sit with us and talk business other non-business related stuff. That meant a lot to me to see someone in your position being so down-to-earth and personable. Well, I just wanted to let you know that I appreciated your servant heart. Oh, and by the way, congratulations on your new venture in the consulting business. I wish you all the best with it. Maybe some day I'll be fortunate enough to work with you again.
